One of my favorite at home indulgences, are long luxurious baths. They calm and cleans both my body and soul. If you don’t have a bathtub at home, then try making a relaxing foot bath instead.

I try to variate my baths everytime, adding different scents, bath products and flowers. But some things are absolutely mandatory to me. I always light candles, I always pour myself a drink, sometimes hot, sometimes cold and I always always play music! This time the drink was Night Time tea, the candles were lightly vanilla scented & the music was my Spotify playlist Powder Room vol. 3. It’s a mix of classical music, movie scores and Disney classics. Very romantic and nostalgic.

The bath itself was somewhat inspired by Cleopatra.

Cleopatra was know to take pride in her beauty, and to indulge in baths of goats milk and honey. Supposedly the milk bath can help soften and smooth rough, flaky skin. Milk contains lactic acid, which I am told can help loosen the dead cells from the surface of the skin. So a Cleopatra bath can gently exfoliate your skin without any scrubbing, doesn’t that sound lovely! Not only that, it soothes irritated skin and the proteins and fats helps moisturize the skin.

My philosophy is if you aren’t willing to treat yourself like a queen, how can you expect anybody else to?!?

So today I treated myself to a bath fit for a queen.

Some may find it silly to spend time on things like these, but to me this is meditation. A little ritual like this helps me find my center, and regain my focus. I like to arrange my ingredients in pretty little bowls. A bath can be a treat for all the 5 senses. Lining up all the bowls and pouring it in one by one, make it feel almost ceremonial.

I didn’t prepare this in advance, but I happened to have some flowers by my bed, so I plucked a few for my bath. I filled the bath with warm water and added a few drops of lavender body oil from Ole Henriksen. After that I added the milk. Make sure to take it out of the fridge in advance, so it doesn’t cool the bath to much. Next I added a bit of Blue Lagoon Bath Salts, and swirled my hands around the water for it to dissolve fully. Lastly I drizzled the flowers in the water.

With music playing, candles flickering and my tea at hand, I slipped out of my robe and into the warm water.

And there I sat, doing absolutely nothing for the longest time. How wonderful, doing absolutely nothing every now and then. Just listening to music, drinking tea and soaking in my dreamy bath.

Would you consider pouring yourself a Cleopatra bath?
